Submitting your child to pain

I had to take Kahlil to the doctor today to have his hemoglobin tested. They had to prick his finger to get a drop of blood. It continues to be so hard to submit him to pain, even though I know it is with the intention of avoiding future pain or illness. It goes against my strongest instincts to protect him and hold his body and heart in the nest of my own. I chose a Lion King sticker for him..which was of no comfort to him. Perfect vs. Ideal

How many of you know someone who accepts themselves just as they are?

How many of you know people who are far too critical of themselves?

When I ask this first question in class, very few people raise their hands. Some think of their pets. Some have a friend or mentor. What is it we are waiting for?
